How UCB (Utility Combined Billing) Works with Your Sunscription

Your utility bill includes both your regular electricity charges and your community solar credits/subscription fees. Here’s how it all comes together:

With Utility Combined Billing (UCB), Xcel combines your charges and credits into a single monthly bill, which includes:

  1. Your regular electricity charges from Xcel Energy (energy use).

  2. Your credits from the community solar program (based on how much solar energy your portion of the solar garden generated).

How Do I Pay My Subscription Fee?

When your community solar garden produces energy, you’ll see a solar bill credit on your Xcel statement. This credit reflects the value of the energy your share of the solar garden generated.

You’ll also see a subscription fee. This fee is based on the amount of energy your share produced.

Both the credit and the subscription fee appear in the same section of your Xcel bill. The fee is applied against the credit, so what you see as the final total is your net savings.

The net total will be subtracted from your current charges.

The Benefits of UCB with Community Solar

Simplified Billing: Instead of receiving separate bills—one from Xcel for regular electricity usage and another from the solar provider for your community solar subscription—UCB combines everything into a single, easier-to-manage statement.

Convenience: UCB makes it easier for customers to manage their energy expenses and track how much they're saving through solar energy, as everything is on one bill.

No Need for Separate Payments: No separate payment is required—your community solar credits are applied directly to your Xcel Energy bill, and your subscription fee is billed through the same statement.
